Grobag Baby Sleep Bags are the safer alternative to top sheets and blankets. Grobag is FSID’s (The UK’s leading crib death research charity) only recommended baby sleep bag. An ideal time to start using a grobag baby sleeping bag is when your baby weighs more than 8.5 lbs (0-6 months size). It is very important to check that your baby's head cannot pass through the neck-hole when the grobag baby sleeping bag is fastened for use. Please remember that these are recommendations only as all babies are different. Size: 0-6 months: min. child weight 8.5 lbs; max child length 27”; 6-18 months: min. child weight 18 lbs; max child length 34”; 18-36 months: min. child weight 25 lbs; max child length 39”. Choosing a Tog: A tog measurement is a European warmth rating based on the thickness of the bag: the higher the tog, the warmer the product. Grobag baby sleeping bags are available in two tog ratings. Tog 2.5 - For standard room temperatures of 61-68º F; Tog 1.0 - For warmer weather and in rooms of 69-73°F. Material: 1.0 Tog – 100% Cotton / 2.5 Tog – 100% Cotton with polyester filling.

We own lots of grobags, and this is the first time I have been disappointed. I ordered two of these for my twins and they were not at all like the other grobags we have owned. First of all, the 1.0 togs that we bought previously were a light/soft jersey knit on the inside and a cuddly fleece on the outside. The other .5 togs we own are two layers of jersey knit---also very soft. These ones (the 1.0 tog "Gro-ing places") are a cheap two layer of what can best be described as really low thread-count cotton sheets. Stiff, and REALLY thin. Like grandma's threadbare old bed sheets. I can't imagine how this would be a 1.0 tog...as it feels thinner than the .5 togs we owned in the past. Unfortunately I already washed them to see if they would soften up...they didn't and now I think I am stuck with them. We are going to go back to the organic 1.0 and 2.5's we own as we know those are super comfy and worth the extra expense of the grobag name.

I was very hesitant to purchase this Grobag after reading some of the reviews, but after two weeks I'm happy and would purchase another. My son outgrew his XL Halo Sleep Sack and the early walker Halo sacks only come in fleece or a mesh like material. I wasn't happy with either of those choices so I started looking for a new brand. I debated between this sack and the Sleep Nest sack, but decided on this one after other reviewers complained the sleep nest sack's zipper scratched their kids.The 1.0 tog Grobag sleep sack has two layers - the outer layer with the design is indeed a little like a low thread count sheet as some of the other reviewers noted. But, the inner layer is a nice soft material and that is what is against your baby's skin. The sack also softened up after a washing. We have the 18-36 month size and it is plenty big for my son who wears size 2T, no worries about outgrowing it anytime soon. The zipper has a chin protector which I appreciate for my son, but it really makes it a pain to zip up. We have learned you have to completely reverse the zipper protector flap, then zip up the sack and pull it back into place over the zipper. A nice feature, is that the zipper is covered by a small flap that snaps closed at the bottom of the sack so curious hands are less likely to unzip the sack.The 1.0 tog is a nice weight for spring and summer. We put my son in long sleeves and pants when it's a little cool and when it's hot we take him down to a t-shirt and shorts.All in all, a nice cotton sleep sack for the summer. I took off a star for the zipper protector flap making it so difficult to zip up and the outer layer of the sack not being as soft as the inner layer.**Update 8/1/12**After 4 months I'm still really happy with this sleep sack and will purchase the 2.5 tog for the winter. The sack has continued to soften after washes over the last months. To my surprise, the white has kept a nice clean color despite the fact that it's being used nightly by a now 18 month old toddler. The zipper flap under the chin is still a nightly struggle (an extra 10-15 seconds), but we're used to it and my son has never shown any irritation or scratching on his chin or neck from the zipper.

Like the other reviewer I was very disappointed with my purchase. This bag is not soft at all and is actually very thin and cold - not comfy like the prior organic gro bags I purchased which were a super soft almost flannel-like cotton. Makes me wonder if this is really a gro bag - I bought the Peek A Zoo - two unfortunately and would love to return them but I already washed them. What a waste.
